Of the video clips I watched, the clip titled "Meet a Virtual Principal: How to lead from a distance" was the most compelling. I found it interesting that Principal Farden traveled to schools where online courses were delivered because the goal of online courses are complete and total flexibility. To me online courses are very limiting, I need to have meaningful discussion with my professor as well as fellow students. In another video clip about Forest Lake Elementary, students entire day revolves around the computer. I feel this is unhealthy because students will not be able to function without a computer, I guess that's the goal.
I understand that we are living in technologically evolved world and that we are inundated with access to the internet and technology. However I feel there are limits to technology in the classroom as it defines learning. First technology isolates people, the classroom is one of the last bastions in modern society where people come together and solve problems as a group. Computers are a useful means of communication, but how is the quality of human interaction affected by the increased use of computers. When we lose the ability to communicate, we lose understanding of one another.
